    EHS Procedures MSDS content:

    The MSDS provides answers to four questions.

    1. What is the product and what should be known immediately?

    2. What should be done if a hazardous situation occurs?

    3. How can hazardous situations be prevented from occurring?

    4. Is there any other useful information about this product?

    1. What is the product and what should be known immediately?

    -       Section 1:
    Identification of the preparation and company

    -       Chemical product name 

    -       Name, address and telephone number of the supplying company (manufacturer, importer or distributor).

    -       Emergency telephone number

    -       Intended use    

    -       Section 2
    Composition / Information on hazardous components

    -       Chemical family 

    -       Names of components, ingredients or impurities which may contribute to the hazard with concentration range.

    -       Classification of those components in accordance with their health hazard, in the form of symbol and R Phrases.

    -       Section 3
    Hazard identification 

    -       Most important hazard to man (and environment in the future)

    -       Section 4
    First aid measures

    -       Brief general description of symptoms and effects (see also section11)

    -       Instructions on what to do (and not to do) for each route of exposure (inhalation, eye and skin contact, ingestion) when immediate treatment is required and when simple measures may be taken before professional medical assistance is available

    Section 5

    Fire-fighting measures

    -       Suitable and not suitable extinguishing media.

    -       Recommendations for fire-fighters. 

    Section 6
    Accidental release measures

    -       Actions to minimize the adverse effects of an accidental spill, leak or release of the material, relating to:

    -       Personal precautions (see also section 8) 

    -       Environmental precautions 

    -       Cleaning up methods (see also section13)

    3. How can hazardous situations be prevented from occurring?

    Handling and storage

    -       Precautions for safe handling and technical measures to prevent worker exposure or fire

    -       Conditions of safe storage

    Section 8
    Exposure controls - personal protection

    -       Engineering measures to minimize worker exposure.

    -       Exposure limits.

    -       Personal protection equipment (respiratory, hand, eye, skin) 

    Section 9
    Physical and chemical properties

    -       Typical physical and chemical properties of the product  not all properties are relevant for all products

     Section 10  

    Stability and reactivity

    -       Stability of the product

    -       Conditions to avoid (temperature, pressure...)

    -       Materials to avoid (water,air,acids...)

    -       Hazardous decomposition products

    -       Possible hazardous reactions  

    4. Is there any other useful information about this product?

    Section 11
    Toxicological information

    -       Description of the

    -       immediate, chronic and delayed health effects of the product and its individual ingredients, arising from single, repeated or continuous exposure (by inhalation, ingestion and contact with skin or eye)

    -       Information intended for medical professionals, occupational safety and professionals and toxicologists.

    Section 12
    Ecological information

    -       Information on possible environmental effects, behavior and fate of the product.

    -       Results or data from scientific experiments

      Section 13 

    Disposal considerations

    -       Appropriate recommendations for the safe and legal disposal of both the product and any contaminated packaging.

    Section 14
    Transport information

    -       Codes and classification according to international regulations for transport differentiated by the mode of transport (land, sea air)

    -       Additional transport regulation or precautionary transport measures and conditions when necessary.

    Section 15
    Regulatory information

    -       Hazard and safety information as provided on the product label
    (symbol and R=Risk and S=Safety phrases).

    -       Other regulatory information, specifically applicable
    to the product

    Section 16
    Other information

    -       Any other information which might be important for safety and health but not relevant to previous headings:

    -       Meaning of R and S phrases codes of section2. 

    -       Indication of Sections where changes occurred in the updated MSDS.
