SOLVENT OR DILUENT

This is the volatile material with which the binder and pigment are mixed, in order that the paint may be of the correct consistency to be applied to the surface by brush, roller, spray, dipping or other methods.

The mixture of solvents is carefully controlled to give optimum application properties and initial drying characteristics and totally evaporates during the drying stage to leave the solid film of pigment and binder.
