    Possible causes include:

    (a) Use of incompatible finishes in same spray booth.

    (b) Wax or silicone polish, oil or grease allowed to remain on the surface before painting.

    (c) Dried soap, detergent remaining on surface.

    (d) Airborne contamination:

    i) Overspray from different paint type

ii) Oil in airline/incorrect air line

iii) Aerosol packed. Antisqueak, release agent (WD40), silicone polish (Dashdandy)

    iv) Dry polish residues

    v) Airborne contamination from adjacent factories.

    Rectification

The use of silicone-containing additives to prevent cratering is not recommended. These additives contaminate the paint shop and other work around and can lead to future adhesion failure.
