Microblistering at edges of local repairs.

    CAUSE

    Colour on colour jobs.

    1. Minimum preparation of light scuff with fine paper. This gives poor inter-coat adhesion.

    2. Use of dry sanding techniques with failure to remove stearate lubricant residues.

    3. Very thin coats of refinish paint usually cellulose.

Original colour removed (during damage repair) and bare metal areas only thinly under coated. Simply application of Undercoat, giving very thin coats at the feather edge.

    RECTIFICATION

    1. Full wet sand with P500 or’P600 grade paper, to remove all gloss and give good key for repaint.

    2. Thorough clean with Spirit Wipe to remove residues.

    3. Apply three or four full coats, according to Process sheet. Use a non- sand primer if possible.

Use enough undercoat to give 2 thou“ dry film thickness. Etch prime if possible.

Overlap the undercoat well on to the original finish (by two to three inches).
